I have been told more often I have a strong personality; but strong minded seems accurate as well. Most of what you have written is true of me.
There are areas that are less so or I could work on. We're often so busy worrying about how we talk to others that we sometimes lose track of the way we talk to ourselves. Make a point of being as positive and supportive of yourself as you are of others, because when times get tough you have to be able to believe you can make it through.
Replace self-doubt with positivity. Rid yourself of can't. When you feel like you can't do something, keep your focus positive. You just have to do it. The mentally strong weed out the words like can't, never, and should--replacing them with can, could, and when.
Stumble toward success. Winston Churchill once said, "Success is stumbling from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm. It's better to have a lifetime full of small failures that you learned from rather than one filled with the regret of never having tried. Find solutions. There will be always problems-- every business has complications and any endeavor has hurdles, but if you can learn to focus 90 percent of your time on solutions and only 10 percent on problems, you'll be able to respond effectively instead of spinning your wheels.
Be grateful. In the business of our busy lives we neglect many of the basic concept of recognition but gratitude gives us fortitude. Gratitude can transform any common day into a thanks giving day and turn routine jobs onto joy and change ordinary opportunities into something we get grateful about.

I would add that historical circumstances, collective or not — such as education, family dynamics, personal experiences, enable or suppress such qualities: they are not only innate, they must bloom in a conducive environment. So does god look like a Bushman from Botswana, a dolphin, or a blonde cheerleader?

Great article. I play college football for the University of Mount Union and earlier this season I received and injury and tore three ligaments and the meniscus in my right knee.
Naturally, I was out for the rest of the year. I had to have surgery, 2 months of rest, then weeks of rehab. It was tough to accept the reality of the situation because I had worked so hard over the off season prepare for the season, and it was taken away from me in the blink of an eye.
After surgery, I was a mess. Then I read this article. My dad sent me the link a few weeks ago and it completely changed my outlook on my situation. I just started rehab last week and my life is finally getting back to normal. And I believe that it was because of this article. Thank you so much for the inspirtation. Often, it requires professional help and guidance. I always believed that a person cannot control how they feel, but they can channel what they do to respond.
I have my degree and 59 hours grad work though, and read a lot. So, naturally, I have studied anxiety depression.
