Why does lte use so much battery

View solution in original post. I would have to agree with Meowmix on this one, LTE may appear as though it is consuming your battery life at a faster rate, but that would only be due to the fact that you can access and download more information at a faster rate. By being able to complete more processes in a shorter time frame you tend to want to do more which will consume battery life. An analogy would be a jug of water with a hole in the side. The size of the hole is proportional to the speed of your connection and the water is the activites or processes that you can complete.

You can still process the same information but at a faster rate. I know it's a poor analogy since you actually process more due to less downtime between processes which eats at battery life as well but it gets the point across.

Airplane mode turns the cellular and data radio off on most phones, but it leaves Wi-Fi access on for some devices. Shelling out a couple of bucks for apps you use may be worth it. Even in the case of beloved Angry Birds, only 20 percent of the app's energy use may go to actual gameplay. The other option is to use an ad blocker to see if it reduces the drain on your battery. Heat is the enemy of all batteries, whether it's your phone's battery or your laptop's. You might be able to eke out a bit more life from your phone if you take it out of a hot case or your pocket, don't leave it overheating in a hot car, and can manage to find other ways to keep it cool.

As a last resort, turning your phone off when it is not in use can cool it down and conserve the battery. Actively scan device characteristics for identification. Use precise geolocation data. Select personalised content.
